So should we in Seattle be jumping for joy?

This isn’t exactly good news for people who actually live in Seattle. We don’t want to be a San Francisco. We don’t want Apple.

But I get that it is good news for you, as a real estate agent. So congrats. Hope you make a killing.

I'm not commenting on whether it is good or bad news and it affects me very little. I work mostly by referral from past clients. I just saw the story and thought some people would be interested. I suffer through the same traffic as you do. I get it.

Sure it is. There are many indirect benefits for people in the community. Services jobs. Taxes to be collected by our council. You're too busy thinking about yourself.

Ah you mean you don't want to be a San Francisco. You don't want Apple. Got it.

An additional 200-400 jobs a year isn't going to have a massive impact on the housing market, especially with the amount of apartments coming online each year. The biggest change has been the departure of foreign investors, thanks to China's new policies with exporting cash. Take a look how that's been affecting SFH inventory since then.

Bluefox’s use of the word “we” is ridiculous.

They're already building their site in SLU. Ugh. I was going to post, "why Seattle proper? Why not spread some of the tech companies around the greater area, to relieve the traffic crush and rent crush on Seattle", but it's too late. They already have their building under construction.

It really doesn't seem practical to continue expanding the tech presence in Seattle. Why not an exurb, like Mt Vernon, and let that area grow up around the new presence? Spread some of the growth around, instead of concentrating it in one already over-built city?

Tech companies like to be surrounded by other tech companies, hence the continued expansion in Seattle, not Mt. Vernon. Makes it easier for company A to poach employees from Company B and C.

Correct, and also, it makes it easier to attract "tech bros" because they tend to like being in the big city.

Right as the local news announces signs of things slowing down in the local housing market, this pops up...jinxed much?
