Been pretty much like that since the summer of 2012. This year feels different due to the fact summer pretty much started in April and June had record heat.

Is it record breaking? According to Cliff (Mass) it was a pleasant July.

Yes, I know.... July was bookended by heatwaves including The Mega Heat of '21.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mass twists and turns the info to show that everything was perfectly natural.

It has certainly warped my sense of normal around here. I used the new portable air conditioners a few days back because it felt a little uncomfortable. Later realized we had topped out at 93 for the day. That sort of temperature (actual or forecast) would capture attention in previous years.. you know back when we'd only have an average of TWO ninety degree days per year?

And I don't know how many days in the 80's we get on average, but we've had a lot of those too. I remember 2011, my first summer, we had 4 eighty degree days.

At least the extended forecast calls for cooler days late in the week. And rain.

Apart from the heat wave, this summer has been very mild.

I was up early this morning for my regular walk and I watched a very orange-red sunrise through a cloud of dark red haze to the east. The scattered cloud structure above created some interesting nice crepuscular rays.

And extended forecasts suggest you're not done using it yet.
