Rents are similar to cheaper in W. Seattle. Its younger and more vibrant. Lots more traffic, but no place is perfect. Looking for some pro's and con's from the natives. I've only been here for 3 years.
54 and single.

Wow. I'm surprised you moved to Sammamish in the first place. I recommend Sammamish to young families, those specifically asking for suburban lots or those needing to be close to Eastside employers (MSFT).

We were driving around Seattle this past weekend because we had family in town. It had been months since the last time.

I am happy to say that it feels like there is less homeless, but the traffic. Everywhere. Is awful.

Also, will you miss the nature?

As long as you don’t have to commute to Seattle right now, it’s a great spot. “The Junction” area close to all the cafes, pubs shops of California Ave SW probably would be the location for you, most people love it. Nearby Lincoln Park is a gem, easy to hop on a ferry and head to Vashon too.

I wanted to relax and decompress after 20 stressful years of being in NJ. So quiet and peaceful here I love it! I work for MS in Redmond.
I am talking about West Seattle/Alki beach. Not Seattle proper.
Its a short drive to the woods. Its a nice trade, wilderness for Puget sound. I grew up on Long Island, and every town I lived in was on the water. I kinda miss it.

Saw you were from "Lon Guyland!" I have relatives in Great Neck. Be funny to take some of the real Italians from LI or Joisey, put them on Vashon and make a reality show out of it .

Probably worth your time to practice the commute at the actual commuting times a couple different days, maybe a Tuesday and a Friday.

At this moment, Alki to Microsoft is not really a great commute. Sounds pretty tough. You'd have to get all the way down the peninsula to the 1st Ave bridge, then either through Georgetown onto I-5 or back up to Spokane to and onto I-5, then slog through northbound traffic till you hit I-90. The amount of cars going from 99 east through Georgetown to get onto I-5 is pretty intense right now due to the WS bridge closure.

Only alternative I can see is hitting 509 south then 518, or 99 South to I-5, to put you onto 405 which means you'd have to go through both Renton and Bellevue. Yikes.

With the West Seattle bridge being out of commission for another 1-2 years, probably not the best time to move. My buddies in West Seattle who work downtown (Seattle) are doing alright because they take the foot ferry or the bus which can use the lower bridge. But folks car-commuting to the Eastside, that sounds pretty tough right now.

If you're craving a waterfront lifestyle, what about looking at Juanita Beach? At least for now. West Seattle will still be around in 2023, and MUCH more commutable.

Or I could take rt 90 east (against flow, watching the sunrise) up to lake Sammamish and just cut across to Redmond.
