My wife is my gauge. She struggles when the air quality is poor. This lingering smoke from the Bolt Creek fire has really affected her, air quality readings have been in the mid 100s, even close to 200 some places in the region. The winds seem to have shifted tonight, the air readings are down in the teens and 20s..Windows are open, feels good to breathe fresh air!

Windows were open all night last night and today. The cool, misty, breezy air is wonderful.

As long as you have good screens, so the stink bugs don't have an easy way in.

Hey, Seattle is now number 1... with the world's worst air quality.

Looking forward to Friday.

I will reiterate to anyone who has doubts, when I close my windows and the PM2.5 levels are at 200 outside (very unhealthy), the level shows as high as 100 (unhealthy for sensitive groups) in the house.

But when I turn on my air filter, it immediately drops to about 20 (good).

Get a good air filter and use it.

And to have air this bad in late October in western Wash.

Growing up I don't remember any bad air from fires even in the middle of Summer.

I might be wrong but 20 and 30 years ago I don't recall any fires doing this to the air.

Am I right on this? Can someone chime in?

The prevailing winds have shifted. Throw open the windows, take a walk, I’m seeing readings of 20 and 30 this morning. May be temporary as the fires aren’t out yet. Enjoy it for now, and wish for heavy rains!
