I want to take classes somewhere to learn to design web pages professionally, i want to learn the languages of web design, Java and so forth, where are some good places in Seattle to do that?

I know you can always take classes at the local community college, but with microsoft nearby, I figured there's got to be a specialty school just for computer technology...

anyone know?

i've seen Renton Technical College, which probably offers what you want, but I don't know how good it is or if locals think good of it. otherwise a CIS/CS from UofW, etc, and learn some extra curricular activities should do the trick, but i assume this will probably take more time than a 'technical college'.

...and a quick look brings me here:
PC Applications Specialist: Curriculum (http://www.rtc.edu/Programs/TrainingPrograms/PCApplicationSpecialist/Curriculum.aspx - broken link)

looks like it might be a quick way to get up to speed. the listed courses appear to be c#, not java. after learning c#/asp, you can easily pick up java/jsp/servlets during or after, though.

earilier in the year MS announced some free online training to WA state residents, but I'm not sure how long that went on for. might be worth looking into.

The community colleges are better than technical schools. You're better off with the cheaper tuition.

I know that Bellevue Community College excels in tech stuff including web design, and that Renton Technical College has a great reputation and a very high job placement rate amongst it's graduates.

I work with someone that learned to be a web developer from some library books. If you can get a job someplace doing whatever you can often work your way into this kind of job if you have a good reputation.
