I believe it was Reagan who also opened up the borders and allowed amnesty. Now the reps. are the ones who are loudest about controlling immigration.

You aren't using the word "oxymoron" correctly. But what's hypocritical to me is that the same anti-choice conservatives that are against a woman's right to choose because "every life is precious", would easily applaud the state sponsored execution of a person.

Like I say, there are many reasons to end the death penalty. They just don't happen to be as emotionally simplistic as "an eye for an eye". One of which is that in a system run by humans, there will be errors. And there has been/will be innocent men and/or women murdered under the guise of the death penalty. Your first wrong assumption is that all persons executed are guilty.

I'll leave the abortion comment alone, because I already took this thread off topic once, and that debate could go on forever.

There are more conservatives or Republicans than you think in the city. Most keep a low profile because it seems smarter, but they are here. I see more and more every day. I'm one. My name is Gary Brose and I'm running for mayor.

Earlier today hurricane harry posted a friendly message welcoming, Gary Brose, a fellow who was brave enough to announce he's running for Mayor of Seattle in spite of having conservative... and egad... perhaps even Republican... sympathies?

Now just few hours later, City-Data:Seattle has already banned hurricane harry?

I'm not necessarily the paranoid type to buy conspiracy theories...

But could this be a coincidence?

Dear Closeted Seattle Conservatives:

Minimally, the Intelligence Community has essentially 100% concluded that Russia interfered in the last election, undermining American democracy. Forget party affiliation, and ask what are the politicians doing about it to both punish Russia and prevent a recurrence. Many in the repub's realize that the interference benefited them so fear making much ado about it could illegitiimize them now. Find the very very few repub's that are concerned (the so-called never-trumpers) - they are true patriots, even some neo-cons. There is also a likely Russian money laundering nexus which complicates. And likely kompromised potus (money and/or saliciousness). Note how current Regime does not recognize/acknowledge the IC conclusions, let alone acts to prevent recurrence, but more likely rewards. Very dangerous. Wake up. Let's get back the normal repub's of the Reagan and earlier times.
