It isn't about stuff..... it is about brain power..... Stuff may help but it isn't everything. What happens when you run out of stuff? If you can't replace what you used you ain't gonna make it.
There is no such thing as "ready" (in this context).
Look at it this way:
I play Russian roulette with one cylinder out of six that is "hot." My neighbor plays Russian roulette with three cylinders out of six that are "hot." Who has the greater probability of winning the game? BUT... is it assured that either of us will win?
I could be sitting here with 50 years worth of food/water, 100 firearms of various sorts and ammo for them, 20 pounds of gold, an M1 Abrams in my back yard, and a lifetime of experience in farming, survival, warfare, etc... and I'm still would not be "ready." There is no ready. All you can do is increase your chances of a successful outcome in such an event. Indeed, the 80 year old woman living down the street could outlive me, even though she wasn't "ready" either. We can't know such things.
The fearful man dies a 1000 deaths. The man of courage dies but one. All you can do is all you can do.
A person can have it all stored up and ready and then the "big one" turns out to be that heart attack or stroke or melanoma or something over which they have no control, no treatment, no recovery.
We need to learn that death is a 100 percent effective and that death can very well be the preferable big event.
I've been homeless. I stuck to my mantra of just get through it and did. I've been really sick more than once. Inside, mentally, I do have the stuff.
I have a medical condition which requires 'products'. Without them life would be hell. I couldn't possibly 'save up' enough for a real, SHTF situation which was everywhere. Short term is different, maybe so.
Without the meds situation? I can fall into the mindset you need. I'm highly creative about using things for other uses, or cobbling together. I have basic skills which would be appreciated in a community. I don't give up. If someone was creative about a 'substitue' product, who knows?
All we can guess is about is the stuff that's inside. The rest is a roll of the dice.
Well, I survived 4 years of this president... Honestly, I thought that was the big one.
I wouldn't count my chickens just yet. A stage has been set...
