We either move forward or we lose ground so it's important to get more and learn more without pause.
I mentioned on the 1880 thread that I had just gotten a Model 1873 Springfield carbine. I bought a Stevens Visible Loader .22 as well. I bought a book on the Springfield as well as a thousand .45-70 cases. I don't need that many; I'll sell what I don't need or use them for trade at shows.
At the ripe old age of seventy-one I've learned a neat trick to getng a better shave. I fill a small spray bottle with very hot water when I begin. Then, after holding a hot, wet washcloth on my face for a couple of minutes I apply the spray whenever it'sgetting dry and when I apply more shaving cream. In the past three months I've learned in general how to get a far better shave and save money at the same time.
I've learned that magazines for the 1903 Colt pocket auto that are marked with the caliber increase the value of the gun.
I bought 160# of cat litter which should arrive tomorrow. I maintain a half ton supply.
Like HIW's beard, I find that it is much easier to trim my horse's hooves if you soak them first. Make a nice mud hole, tie him there for about an hour, (not HIW).
I like the idea that the way to prepare for a SHTF EOTWAWKI situation is to have a half-ton of cat litter on hand. There is something poetic about that.
Finally found a new propane forge for sale, actually in my town!
Still trying to catch up with the guy to see the forge, hopefully this weekend. If it's a good one, it will be my next acquisition.
I did get a good buy on a cordless Milwaukee 1/2 inch drill driver and impact driver set with extra battery, case and charger, great tools and I've been really impressed with the amount of work I can do with them.
I've learned this summer that no matter how many prarie dogs you exterminate trying to protect your livestock and pasture, it never makes a dent in their population

Still, the thrill of killing such a formidable opponent as the prairie dog must be too much. By the way, you need not have exterminated so many of them to learn what you learned - that has been known for a while. Too bad your kind doesn't trust science.
I learned a lot about Greece, the IMF, the ECB, and European Commission ("Troika") and why the Brussels elites who are oppressing the Greek people are planning to do the same to all the countries in the EU...then move on to the US after Europe has been 'federalized'. One world? Ugggh.
I learned how to properly miter a door or window frame on a house that is no longer level or sqaure.
I bought a DeWalt orbital palm sander, for use at my brother's cabin. How did I go so long without one?
