Check out https://www.coolworks.com . They have a lot of cool seasonal and full time outdoorsy type jobs and a lot include housing. Some in AZ too.

I'm in AZ yet & not discourage folks but it is dumpy. Whether Grand Canyon & Flagstaff north or south thru Phx to Tucson & southern border, I'd not recommend it. This state has financial probs, transient probs, & general mistakes. The summers are increasingly unbearable hot. The water will dry up soon from Colo river -- only matter of time. Need I say more?

Ok, if you're smart head north & avoid this plague. Also, retirees aka snowbirds flock here in winter (then realize their mistakes & go to Totalwine to get drunk & drown sorrows, haha) but they then, get out of dodge asap when March ends. Do the math, they've got lots of $ -- yet no way live here yr round. I'd not even snowbird let alone live here yr round. It is not all that the media portrays AZ to be, period.

Ok, here comes the counterpoint backlash, haha, I know... yet I'm firm on my asking price (AZ net worth -- bout 2 nickels on a GOOD day -- one on a bad day).

PS -- And yes -- I'm cold sober... for now.

In 2002, I would have disagreed with most of your points, but nowadays - yeah - the quality of life here has nosedived quite a bit. It's become California, pt. 2 (my nativity), particularly the elements I never liked about it.

When you say "head North", where, specifically? The other three 4-corner States?

If you want to remain in the 4-corner States, I'd suggest either New Mexico or - better - Colorado. Colorado is enjoying (or enduring, depending on your POV) a population boom right now. It's expensive here, but you'd stand a good chance of finding work in Denver or elsewhere on the Front Range (Colorado Springs). I left the Front Range because it was becoming to California -ized for me 15 years ago, but I'm an old school type Colorado native, and what I won't tolerate, others might not even notice. I'd suggest you do a little on-line job searching in Denver/Colorado Springs. Come on out and check those places out on the cheap once the weather gets a little warmer and you can stay at campgrounds rather than in an expensive motel room. I have several friends who have moved to New Mexico and like it very much. It's by far the least expensive state of the four to live in, but the down side is that it's harder to find work there, as well. Still, you might find it worth your while to check out at least Albuquerque, possibly Santa Fe. Sounds like you have a good nest egg saved up - no need to panic and visualize being forced to live out of your car. If you did a job search blitz of the four cities I mentioned, I'd be highly surprised if you didn't find a new job within 6 months or sooner.

That particular poster, movintime, has shown interest in the "American Redoubt" states, specifically Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. When he says "head North", that's what I presume he means, not the 4 corner states.

Since when are the four corners north?

Since never. They're firmly in the Southwest. However, Colorado and Utah are north of OP's present state of Arizona. Only movintime knows what he meant by his advise to move "north"?

You will make it. I live in my car with just 5k in my pocket thanks for winning the jackpot in the casino. So I live the gambler lifestyle in vegas living in my car and I'm a woman and survived!

I have ingenious ways of showering and even swimming their resorts for free. And sneaking in gyms for free too.

It was fun but yeah it's hard. You don't know when security people will knock on your windows. Happened to me loads of time even got a warning write up.

I did it for adventure coz I love road trips. I would do it for life if I have money like yours for the whole year! Like travel all the US states by car.

Live your life. You sound stressed. Go enjoy your $50k savings just make sure you have enough at the end to live the normal life though and having a job again.

What you may consider is learning to drive an 18 wheeler. I did it for a year after I retired, saw the whole country and had hundreds of memories that will stay with me forever. Truck tractors now-a-days are very modern, air conditioned, heated, and very comfortable.

Most truckers don't have an apartment or a home, they live in their truck. So, every penny you make goes into the bank except for what you need to live on the highway. My expenses on the highway were about $100 a week. Here's a little secret about truck driving "over the road", you will pay no taxes. For each day you spend on the road you get about a $70 tax deduction so every week you rack up $490 in deductions and when it's time to do your taxes you will be getting most if not all of the money you paid in through the year back.

Everyday driving a truck is new, one week you could be on the East coast and then the next be on the West coast. For some it's a good life choice.
