I might add, I am not a strong supporter of WalMarts. I don't think all their prices are lower, I don't always like the quality of their merchandise, but they certainly have a strong market that serves a need in many regions. I probably go to WalMart once a month, maybe a little more often. I do not care for their lack of customer service.

If you are basing your slanted view on things you read about the corporation, you need to stop believing everything you read or change your reading material!!!!

and if you believe everything you read on google you have a lot to learn. Like any other site, what they say and what is true may not be the same!!! I know this for a fact. I have 2 instances of things on google that are not true.
This is what gets to me. Way too many people believe everything they read/hear about Walmart without really knowing. They have NO idea of the many things that Walmart does to help their community AND their employees. I've held many jobs in my lifetime but have never worked for a company that treated their employees as well as I've been treated over the years. People don't know what bennies we actually get, or are at least offered and can have if we want them. I admit, I used to be 'one of them'. I SWORE I would NEVER work for Walmart just because of what I heard and read. What an idiot! I'm still kicking myself for not going to work for them years ago.

Never. It is possible I'd stop in there for something random but the Wal-Mart here is too inconvenient for me to get to. This hasn't always been the case, so in my lifetime I have bought one thing and it was some sort of allergy relief kind of pill for my fiancee's watery eyes when we out walking and were in front of one and she was having a rough enough time. So, basically I would never go out of my way to shop at Wal-Mart

I prefer Target as far as a direct comparison of type of store. If it is just for groceries, I shop Aldi, Kroger, Target, and Walmart, in that order. I haven't had a Costco membership for several years, though I did like it, generally. My old employer bought the membership I had, and I haven't bought one myself since then.

I personally just don't really enjoy shopping at my local Walmart, even though it is one of the closest stores to my house. Thankfully, Aldi is also very close.

I prefer Target also, but in my small town, Walmart is the largest supermarket. I'm probably in there twice a week. There is another grocery store where the prices are an extra half again as much as Walmart's prices...sometimes double! We also have an Aldi's. I love that store. I'm on SS, so I need to watch my money...even though I'm not a Walmart fan.

We have one small natural/organic food store also. Sometimes I shop there for produce or products that I cannot get at Walmart. Occasionally, I'll go to the next largest town which is 70 miles away. They have Target, Sam's Club, etc.

I shop at Wal-Mart for certain items. For example they have Bulls Eye BBQ sauce for $1.50 a bottle while everyone else sells it for $2.49. I buy 6 bottles at a time because it's hugely popular at our house.

They also carry plenty of ethnic food (Hispanic, Indian, etc.) that you can't necessarily find elsewhere, at least not in one place.

Commodities like electronics are also good buys there if you know what you want.

I never buy clothes there unless it's commodity stuff like underwear and socks.

Oh yeah, one more thing: If I just need something quick I go to the regular supermarket or to K-Mart. Wal-Mart is always too crowded!

Costco does pay better and actually so does Sam's but they are more particular about who the hire. Many of those working at Walmarts would be totally dependent on hand outs if WalMart didn't give them a chance to work. I happen to know 2 individuals that were just about unhirable and were thrilled to get a chance to work at WalMart. And btw don't believe everything you read about people at Walmart being on welfare, anymore than no one at other retail stores are on welfare. Anyone working for min or close to min wage and not working 40 plus hours a week will have to depend on government, even those at Costco. Let me add one more thing: WalMart does pay more than min wage in most cases. WalMart is anything but socialism. You obviously know nothing about the company or the Walton family.

Never mind the empty shelves, out of stock products, long lines at the self-checkout because no registers, and overall trashy clientele.

The sad reality is the average American is becoming too poor to afford to shop anywhere else.

I know it's offtopic but since service industry jobs like Walmart are the fastest growing part of our economy the employees should be paid a living wage.
For your information, most Americans can afford to shop at stores other than big box types and they are not that poor. Living wage? Do you have any idea what would happen if all companies were to pay a living wage: the workers would not be able to afford to buy anything cause prices would be out of sight. Working at WalMart types of stores were never meant to be ones only source of income.

BTW, our Walmarts normally have fully stocked shelves and have both self check out and regular registers open.

Let me ask you something: if you never shop at WalMarts how do you know so much about the stores? You say the products are garbage and wear out? I too do a lot of online shopping, many of the brands I purchase on line are carried at WalMart.

About every three months for non food items....eye drops, make-up, lotion, cleaning supplies, hair dye, OTC medications, etc.

Can't stand the parking lot, the cluttered aisles full of misbehaving children and unaware parents, the shelves not being stocked with the products I seek, and the worst part....the EXTREMELY long & slow checkout lines. Within the past year, they changed their system for accepting manufactures coupons. Every time since then, I've had issues with my coupons being accepted and that required a manager's approval. VERY FRUSTRATING! These are $3-$5 coupons so it's not just a few cents we're talking about.

Kmart is my closest discount store and the selection there is even worse, so I avoid that store. ShopKo is next closest and they too have limited selection. Target is my preferred discount store, but it's farthest away from me and traffic in that area can be a bear.

Becauase it's not a Mom & Pop LLC?

Target, Food Lion, Safeway, Costco, Home Depot, Lowes, Kohl's, Belk's and even Aldi are anything but Mom & Pop stores yet everyone clamors to them in droves for the bargains.

It's like shopping online, which I prefer.

Walmart had one item I could not find anywhere else: Scott 2-ply toilet paper - so I was going there 4 x a year or so. But since they discontinued it, I have no reason to go there anymore.
