I should've posted this earlier in September.......but why the heck are all the Christmas decorations out already? They might as well start putting Valentines day stuff out the day after Christmas, then Easter stuff out the day after Valentines day then 4th of July stuff out the day after easter....LOL. Does anyone have any insight as to where these marketing tactics come from. I remember as a kid (in the early-mid 90's), I'd never see X mas stuff out till almost a few days before halloween, sometimes not till a week after halloween.
They put it out because people will buy it.
Halloween candy was out in August... and yes, people were buying!
Valentine's Day things DO come out right after Christmas. At least it is the next holiday in line.
With Christmas stuff, they jump right over Thanksgiving and Halloween!

Where have you been? This is pretty much how things go in my neck of the woods.
If you pay close attention all the things you just mentioned do start one after another. Like we would stand a chance of forgetting. Been this way for years and its called greed.
The Hallmark stores began displaying Christmas items in July; and QVC also began hawking Christmas wares the same month. Used to be that Thanksgiving was the so-called official start of the Christmas shopping season.
A lot of stores have the "Christmas in July" sale. Its not really a new concept. Its been around since at least the 1950s. Just a marketing tool to get people to spend their money.

Wow! Guess I missed the stores in SoCal displaying Christmas items in July in the 50s.
