No smart phone, no freebies (phones, purchase, used, free)

Went into 7 11, manager was promoting a breakfast sandwich and the trick was that you had to text to 711711 for it.I have a "Dumb" phone so all I got was a http//code which doesn't work on my phone....

Ripped off a email to corp...Nothing will happen, maybe stop going and elt them know why....

I don't think owning a smartphone is worth the expense of getting a freebie occasionally by text or an app. I plan to downgrade to a "dumb" phone once my contract expires in April. It sure is an inconvenience when offers are only available to those that have smartphones

Because it's not a 'free' sandwich, it's 'free with' something. In this case free with a text, so that they have access to your phone number to market to you.
Would be kind of like complaining that you think you should get something completely free when it's advertised as free with purchase.

Dumb phone owners are in for a new surprise very soon. The 'big' national banks are testing smart phones for link to ATM withdrawal. The news release didn't mention if a card would still be able to be used at the machine.
