I totally take your point. What galls me is that you are not supposed to have to worry about what goes to spam because it is spam. Am I wrong? If you have to check the spam folder, then why not just lt everything come to your inbox and be done with it??

I like service that sends me message confirming the payment went. Then if it doesn’t say so timely I go speed read my junk folder or look in the app to confirm it happened. I call it trust but confirm by checking up on them.

I understand WhatsApp is a way mant countries pay small business or individuals. I know nothing bout it really.

I write 4 checks per month. All for services that demand either a bank account direct debit or a Zelle or Venmo payment. I had a bank pay by check for a while, but once I noticed a check did not go out as it was supposed to. It was more trouble for me than it was worth. In addition, while it was a bank error and they made good and my credit was not impacted, it was still annoying.

This way, I write a check and I mail it. I then watch my bank account to see it was deposited. While I understand that a banking institution generally is supposed to make it right, I am not patient when it comes to that sort of thing. I do have Apple Pay on my phone and I love it. We are waiting for a new credit card to arrive soon, as our current company informed us they are replacing all cards with a tap and go chip.

One thing you can do to help protect yourself is to open an account for use only with Zelle or Venmo. That way the exposure is limited to only that account, presuming you do not allow linking to other accounts in your profile. The other thing I have done is to set up an email account that for me, is "retail" in nature. What I mean is that I created an email account only for use when I have to provide and email. That way they all hit in the same account and essentially they are all "junk".

For those that have an Apple product, you can use them to create an alias email for you too. I use that to sign up for discounts on things I might use once.

As consumer you have some responsibilities. It is just like checking traffic before you cross a busy street.

I have never heard of this before. How does it work?

One interesting thing I read about some long while back is that you can pay for a service to provide you a "cloaking phone number" or whatever they call it that protects your phone number. It was something I was considering doing at one time.

with AOL,if you find an email in spam folder which is not spam, you can click This is not spam,so next time it will not place it in spam folder, check with your ISP and see if they have the same feature

We use WhatsApp to communicate at work with other departments and each other. If there’s a money sending feature in it they hide it well because I’ve never seen it. It’s just a more secure messaging and video chat app as far as I know. I just opened it to doubt check and there’s no icon for sending money.

My understanding is it’s used outside the US to send money.in Mexico. An expat whose a retired cop living there says we are behind the times. I think that feature maybe not available here yet. I use Zelle to pay bills to venders.
