if u in a hurry and use the self checkout they will ask in small print do you want to round up. why do they ask this, it basically stealing.
so you just click to get out. $10.01 they got me for 99 cent for nothing. I could of gotten a cold foutain drink for that at the gas station across the road
why do they even ask you to round up, Moderator cut: (even implied) vulgar language not allowed on cd. thieves

Was that cash payment, or through credit card?
In our neck of the woods, we now have to pay extra 2% to 4% at the retailers, restaurants, clinics, pharmacies, .... etc., if we pay by credit cards.

Presumably they do it to raise money for a charity. Just tell it no. It's not stealing, you have a choice. You chose to round up.
Try not being in such a hurry. Take the time to look at the screen instead of just hitting the buttons. Only one screwing you was you! And if you DO take the time to read, I imagine you'll see they aren't keeping that change. It goes to the DG Literacy Foundation helping students of all ages.
Aren’t there any non-dollar stores near you?
Don’t shop at a dollar store. They are the bottom of the retail barrel.
Dollar General is not a "dollar store" as is (was) Dollar Tree or the 99.99 cents store, Dollar General just uses the word "Dollar" in their title to lure in bargain shoppers. They have always filed their business as a general low cost retailer, same filing as Walmart or Five and Under, etc..

There’s a couple stores around where I live that ask if you want to round up but at least one of the options is no. The round up near here uses the money to go to schools and other places.
Too much in a hurry to care about your money? I'm sorry but the register is the one place that you need to slow down and pay attention no matter what kind of a hurry you're in. I was a cashier and I couldn't tell you how many people would randomly push buttons only to complain they didn't realize what it was asking.
Slow down and take the time to acknowledge what you're agreeing to before you hit that . Nearly every store right now is doing charity round ups or donation drives. Heck, even self checkout have tip options (now that is boarding on some form of sneaky bad ethics in my book). Simply decline and move on.
