I always click on "No", even when they ask me online after I make a purchase in some websites.

It's not stealing if they ask and you agree.

It is, however, foolishness if you don't pay attention to what you are doing at check-out.

Then it's on you.

Every Dollar General and Family Dollar store in Butler County, Ohio just got nailed for cash register fraud

https://www.fox19.com/2022/10/28/ser...butler-county/
Quote:
All 20 of the Dollar General stores in Butler County failed pricing inspections this month that was conducted by the county’s auditor’s office with “double figure error rates up to 88%,” according to a news release sent out by the county’s auditor’s office Thursday.

A store is allowed only a plus or minus 2% error rate.

Family Dollar is investigating a pricing error issue that the Butler County auditor says is causing some shoppers to be overcharged.

Days after all 20 Dollar Generals in Butler County failed price verification checks, inspectors with the auditor's office found a similar issue at Family Dollar.

This appears to be more than a few local area issues

The OP is not talking about price fraud... theirs is a completely different issue than that mentioned in those links.

Like nobody else has ever been in a hurry and occasionally made a mistake, sheesh cut the OP a little slack.
One of the contributing factors to the OP's mistake is that each store and its keypads has its own sequence of checking out, some are simple some are lengthy and some require cashier assistance and some don't. CVS and Lowe's are some of the more 'involves' ones for instance. Target and Costco will throw an extra step in over the holidays. It's all far from uniform and an occasional mistake is understandable.

I'm starting to get the impression that in CD world only OPs make mistakes, never commenters.

Don’t shop at a dollar store. They are the bottom of the retail barrel.
A few years ago, I bought a can of Ajax cleanser at a dollar store for... $1.00
A couple of weeks later, I observed that Walmart was selling the same size can of that product for 88 cents.

Just because they ask you if you would like to round up doesn't mean that you should or are obligated to do so. They aren't thieves. They don't steal anything from you. They just ask. And you can just ignore it. Can't YOU?

BTW:
You all tippers should be aware that
tips at a self-checkout machine might never even get to an actual employee since protections to tipped workers in the federal Fair Labor Standards Act don’t extend to machines.

So, stop give tips to machines!!

I see the roundup feature in Stop & Shop, Walmart & CVS. I usually donate.
