Forget tipflation - yesterday, when dining in I discovered a new surcharge - for paying with credit card AKA sweeping fee.
Perhaps you're already familiar with it, but it was first time to me.

A credit card surcharge seems to be a thing that all sorts of businesses are starting to use.

Not good for people who don't like to carry a lot of cash.

I am actually in favor of this, but I like to pay cash -- and I am worried that cash will not be accepted at all in the not-too-distant future.

It costs a little money t run cards, so I don't have a problem with this. $.75 does not seem excessive.

I wonder if on, say - $120 dollar bill (large party) the surcharge amount will remain the same.

Probably a flat 3.5% surcharge across all amounts, to cover the CC charge.

Doesn't bother me at all. Part of the cost of eating out.

The surcharge in your original post is 3.5%. That's about what the credit card company charges the restaurant. I am sure that the same percentage would be applied to the $120 bill.

Oh, I see. Not complaining, but somehow this was the very first time I saw such surcharge on a restaurant bill. Thought it was new.

I'd rather they charge an all-in cost. I hate add-on fees.

They can give a discount for cash to appease cash-carrying-customers.
