Nope. not in the least.
First time i was up around Shreveport, Brother and I went to a club, and the guy at the door, says to us, "Are y'all Coon-ass? We don't allow Coon-ass here. You'd best haul ass on back down the river."

That was a few years back, but I still have no use for the place.
Used to run up to the Hayride a lot. Even there, some folks were kinda snooty.

I wouldn't even set foot on Shreveport again, if they raised a monument to Paul Prudhomme or Justin Wilson.

I'd personally say it's worse than typical.

Shreveport is a typical southern town from the 60s. They have managed to stay much the same over the decades.
Though they have improved a bit from those days.

Ironically, my father says the town is worse off than in the 60's due to the continued erosion of corruption. I guess it's a YMMV type thing.

I have lived in both and no Shreveport is not the polar opposite of New Orleans. There are plenty of things in\about Shreveport that will be familiar to someone coming from Southern LA. Not on the same scale, no. Of course not. But then that's not always a bad thing.

Well, I hear that they are talking about bringing back the Hayride.
That's gotta be a step in the right direction.
At least if the bring back some real country music folks to play it.

Shreveport: A good city for rednecks, one of the best.
