the worst thing for the development of soccer in this country is the expansion of MLS over 20 teams. The league will just be way too diluted. And we'd be stuck with a dominant D1 that is way over-regulated with countless barriers to entry for potential players. We need to build up our 2nd and 3rd divisions. We need a strong pyramid. It's much more important to the development of soccer in this country.

Americanize the names, nothing European. I should have clarified that earlier.

i think some American soccer team names are more dignified than others. Names like Seattle Sounders, Philidelphia Union, New York Cosmos, Vancouver Whitcaps FC, Dayton Dutch Lions. These are cool sounding names.
What makes me cringe are the names that have an Arena league feel to them. Names like Impact, Earthquakes, Hammerheads, Rhinos etc
Still nothing wrong with just naming a club FC or SC and then allowing the nickname of the club to evolve organically.

I am fine with the SJ Earthquakes since the name has a history with California. Montreal Impact, I think that name is silly. I do know what one point, the Hampton Roads area in Virginia almost got a NHL team back in the late 90's. They were to be called the Hampton Roads Rhinos. From what I read, the name came from the specific type of rhinos at one of the zoos in the region. If the name is connected with the area, I am fine with that. But if it doesn't, then no.
As for having FC or SC in the name, I could dig that with the addition of a team nickname. Vancouver Whitecaps FC are a good example.
