Hey guys,
What is the deal with all the Alcohol? almost everyday I look at the Greenville online paper, and I can't count the numbers of openings of bars, or "reader submitted photos of bars, meetings, etc. and everyone has drinks in their hands? What's the deal? makes it look like there is nothing to do in Greenville but drink and I know that can't be. SC folks any thoughts?
I know that here in Aiken they recently allowed "free pouring" of drinks. Before that it was the expensive little bottles. A Long Islnad iced tea was around $20. Maybe that has something to do with it. Not sure if it was statewide, or just a local thing.
the minibottle law was a statewide thing. we were the only state in the U.S. to require that a cocktail have a specified amount of alcohol. A Long Island iced tea was so expensive because it was basically the cost of 4 seperate drinks for those 4 seperate liquors.
I'm unable to explain why the Greenville newspaper has so many photos of people drinking?
But I can tell you that as of January 2006 South Carolina became a free pour state. Prior to 1/06...South Carolina was the only state that had required restaurants and bars to use mini bottles to mix drinks (those little bottles that they serve on airlines)
