I been hearing talk about that also, somewhere on the south end like highway 15 south. But these are talks I'm hearing from people at work mostly and not anything I have seen in the paper. I work out on that end of town so that would be nice. I know one was planned for that area back 2007 or 2008 because I saw the sign everyday on the way to work. But, when the economy crashed, that and many other things were put on hold.

Walmart is still opening Supercenter stores, but Neighborhood Market stores are the numerous new stores opening. It is possible to see both one new Supercenter and one new Neighborhood Market open in Sumter?

I also would like to see a pedestrian bridge or skywalk over that section of highway 378 where the National Guard and Dillon Park is located. With all those apartments located over there, it is not safe for people to be crossing that highway to get to the stores on the other side, or the South Pike side of 378. Over the years people have been killed crossing that highway, and I have had 2 close calls with pedestrian that scared the heck out of me. I use 378 from north main street to go to Wal-Mart. That area can also use more lighting at night, way too dark.

I guess plans for the second Walmart Supercenter would be back on track. Field clearing should be the first sign of construction.

The site on Bultman is the WalMart Market. The site on 15 South was just cleared for the timber value. No construction plans for that area right now. I heard that Publix acquired the lot where John Brabham Real Estate, the day care behind it and the old Batting cages on the corner of Wise and Alice. The source I heard that from is very credible. But I haven't seen any evidence of that yet. But, they may just be waiting for DOT to finish the widening project first.

Moe's and SmashBurger will build on the corner of Wesmark and Broad at the old Exxon. The site must go through an environmental clean up first.

Thanks for your input, it cleared up a few things. I bet the empty lot next to the new Buffalo Wild Wings wont be empty long either.

Good point. Plus, the actual structure they are building looks like it has 2 units. Looks to me like BWW is on the left with the patio. Wonder what, if anything is going in the other unit.
