Last week I accepted a job offer in Anderson. Currently we live about 90 miles away in Buford, GA. My company is located right along I-85 just a mile or two north of exit 21. So far housing looks pretty comparable to where we live now. I am hoping to live within 15-20 minutes of work. I've only been to Anderson once for the hot air balloon event a few years ago and it seemed like a nice little town.

Are there any areas I should avoid? Any tips for a newbie to the area? For now I'll stay in a hotel Mon-Fri until we can sell our house.

You might consider posting this in the Greenville forum. There are a lot of posters there familiar with the Anderson area. Here is a link.

Anderson is nice. I hope you will enjoy it.

You mentioned wanting to reside within 15 to 20 minutes of employment. Have you checked out any areas of Anderson County that may interest you?

Seems like very little in real estate north of I-85 so I have been looking mainly east to northeast of Anderson, and a couple houses around Pendleton.

The North Highway 81 and Concord Road corridors and the Cobb's Glenn area are constant with new residential construction.

Pendleton is smaller, is convenient to Clemson, and can be a decent commute.
