Pretty humid, usually warm, sometimes rains or is a little cloudy. Not much trouble with tornadoes or anything... Most people do church activities, bowling, to one of the many good restaurants, go shopping at the mall, drive down to the Edisto River or to one of the lakes a little ways to the north, go to the church league softball games through June, skeet shooting, four-wheelering, go to Edisto Beach, or at least that's what I'll be doing. Have fun! =)

Here is a link to the Aiken area calendar of events.

http://www.tbredcountry.org/pdf/COE.pdf (broken link)

We did a lot of canoing in the Aiken State Natural Area last summer. The Edisto River runs through the park. You can rent a canoe for something like $12, and you can take your dog.

There is also Langley Pond for swimming, jet skiing, etc., also dog friendly.

Richardson Lake Park is like a small (and I mean very small) water park. I think it was $5 per person to get in.

If you don't mind to drive a little there is always Lake Thurmond.

We also spent a lot of time hiking in the Hitchcock Woods.

Sadly, no. While housing and other related expenses are much lower there I was unable to find enough work to support myself.

If I had been able to you would not have been able to pry me away with a crowbar.

They also just recently aquired a minor league team, the Aiken Fox Hounds and a new convocation center. It is hot and humid, and you can find anything and everything to do with a horse.

I'm so excited to hear about the new minor league team! I love baseball and will be moving to Aiken in a few weeks.

Thanks for all the great ideas of things to do! I'm bookmarking that list.

We just moved to Aiken, also. Any thoughts about Aiken Parks and Rec or YMCA, we have 4 children 5 - 10 years of age and want to keep them busy... Thanks for the great suggestions above, definitely will find out about Edisto River!
