I've been in the Seattle area all of my 55 years and am looking to retire where I can garden, see the sun and afford a place for my English Setter(s) to run. I'm done with the grey skies and liberal politics of Seattle and am not into urban living. I've been looking at the Carolinas, especially South, for a place to live out my "golden years!". I'm especially drawn to the mountains so have been focusing my attention on the nw corner of South Carolina. I think I would prefer a small town (less than 10,000), and want to make sure I move into a "safe" community. Any suggestions as to communities to check out when I do my first research visit this fall? Any candid help is appreciated.

Please consider Aiken or the surrounding area.

We have a wonderful 2,200 acre woods with 65 miles of trails that have been donated to the people for horseback riding & hiking. My dog LOVES to go there.

You can be in the mountains in an hour or so (depending on how you drive ), and to the beach in 3.

If you are interested I answered many questions for someone in a thread called "Interested in Aiken".

Default Upstate Area - Greenville, S.C.

Greenville, S.C is a great place.

If you are planning to move and interested, I can send you information on a community located in northern greenville with a list of amenities and great access to locations.

Golf course, tennis courts, walking trail, swimming pool, 15 minutes from downtown, 50 minutes from Asheville, N.C., 25 minutes from Hendersonville, N.C. and 15 minutes from the mountains.

Of course I work for the property but if this is not the place for you maybe I can lead you in the right direction.

While Seattle is an awesome place, I think you will find S.C. to be a wonderful place to retire.

If you are interested let me know and I will send you information.

Thanks,

Rhett
