Default Love the Hills!

Having spent a lifetime in Minnesota, the Black Hills is a great place to live and work.

I think we're a success story. We moved here from AZ this past winter. Personally, I didn't think the winter weather was all that bad this year myself (we're originally from WI and the Great Lake weather pattern I felt was harder than this, at least IMHO).

I guess I personally would say to really remember that as kind as the folks are on the forum....don't take loose ends for granted. Fortunately, we corrected one major problem within the first 3 months. We're living in the second major problem - but not for too long. I guess what I am trying to say is get those ducks in a row and as tempting as it is to say, "oh sure, I believe you" - double-check...in person. These problems were double-checked long distance...I would NEVER do that again....way too easy to get taken advantage of.

Now, the hills are gorgeous. Rapid City is great - I think it is clean and generally safe (using your head of course). Spearfish is really beautiful. Hubby's job and my job are fantastic. Just about everyone we've come into contact with, with the two exceptions, have been welcoming, kind, helpful and friendly. It really is beginning to feel like we've come home.

Good luck on your move.

BTW, coming from a hot and dry city of over a million to what (?)...about 70,000 or so.... is absolutely fantastic. We now consider it "heavy traffic" when we have to wait for more than 5 cars.

I pretty much agree. I am really enjoying Rapid. I now get annoyed if my commute to/from work takes more than 5 minutes. LOL

Good for you! Were you able to secure jobs without being there to interview?

Thank you! Yes, we both had out-of-town phone interviews and drove into town employed the next week.

Lucky! I had a phone interview and then had to drive up for a face to face interview, at the end of January. Of course the day I drove up it was snowing with freezing fog and temps of -15 and below. LOL

Your all lucky (fortunate) to have jobs. My wife said "get a job there and we’ll move." Understandable. I do think I would have more luck if I were there…

That is the crux of the issue. Dogwalker sent in several applications, and a few phone interviews before having two sit down interviews.
