If you are flying into Rapid City on Friday keep your eyes peeled for cancelations. This blizzard is supposed to start tonight and go through tomorrow. It's already snowing up in the Black Hills but it's just drizzling in Rapid City and at RCRA.
More than likely, this snow will melt in the matter of a day or two.
The weather men this evening mentioned that the Sioux Falls area and the southeastern portion of the state will miss the brunt of the storm and will have a couple inches of the icky white stuff (snow or sneau). It was up to 70 degrees today in the southeastern part of the state, cannot get better than that in November. There were some sun and clouds. I was in eastern Nebraska for a funeral today and it was in the mid 70s down there. I thought that it would be dark, dreary, and wet, but I am not going to complain.
I do not look forward to the iffy weather, but old man winter will rear his ugly head sooner or later.
I guess the first question where are you flying into? Sioux Falls looks like it will miss most of the storm. Rapid Pierre and other areas are supposed to be socked in.
Scratch my previous post. I had to make a quick run up to Target and when I came out there was a vicious wind and a snow/rain mix! Gusts over 60mph too! Traffic was backed up really bad on I-90 too because everyone was driving so slow. If it's like this for the next two days... Crap!
I'm sorry to hear that you guys are getting slammed out there. It still looks like we may luck out and not get much. Just like everyone, I'm hoping we don't get ice first. We were actually supposed to have thunderstorms and possible severe summer weather today, but it ended up being nice SO FAR.
Scuba has always talked about the Rapid area so I'd guess he's going to be landing out that way.
