Luckily it's always a little warmer around the Black Hills. Makes it easier for you to adjust to.

Well, they have a VA in Rapid which might be a plus for you. Prettiest part of the state. SD isn't to bad you will enjoy the change of season. I moved to AZ and that is what I missed most, it gave me something to look forward to throughout the year which I never realized until it was gone. AZ is sunny all day every day which is nice but you start to miss the clouds, the heavy thunder heads that roll in making everything calm low rumbles and a relief from a long sunny day - open your windows at night to enjoy the summer breeze and listen to the crickets and grass hoppers chirp.
Cost of living in SD isn't to bad.

Don't over look Aberdeen! 2 college (best teachers college in the state), a VA clinic, VERY strong job oportunities and LOW crime, plus you LIKE WINTER! You were made for Aberdeen! Seriously, take a look at the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce or Convention/Visitors bureau websites. Lots to do up here!
