don't you think GOD put Jupiter in it's spot on purpose to protect us from: asteroids, comets, meteors and the like? i mean, if it weren't right there..... bye, bye earth...hawaii, afghanistan.....what a great design it was...
The President is doing a fine job. May GOD give him the strength... Who do you want for President, Corey Booker....LoL.
Joe Biden, Beto or betgeige......(God help us)....

The Earth has been pounded and still gets debris falling all the time. Most of it is pretty small and burn up. Some make it to the ground. And then there are the ones that large enough to cause destruction. Jupiter isn't much help if we're on the opposite side of the Sun, or if a rogue asteroid or comet comes from above or below the Solar System. Jupiter could potentially be a problem if an object flies close to its gravitational field, altering its trajectory in a way that sends it directly to the Earth. Everything would have to be in the right position at the right time for it to happen, but it could possibly happen. Jupiter can protect us or it could kill us.
The Space Force uniforms have been unveiled. It's traditional camouflage print. You never know when our brave soldiers might need to blend in with bushes in space!
Basically a fake alien invasion, with lots of special effects going on in the sky.
I truly think thats what all this 'space force' talk is ultimately about...Govt will claim there is an off planet threat, and they are trying to get prepared.
I think that was a misspelling and meant '...change the wood as we know it'. I agree, spacecrafts and space stations made of wood aren't very reliable.
You think the war on terror cost a lot of money...just wait until you hear what kind of defense spending is needed to defend the country from an off planet threat!!!
I bet the military industrial complex is drooling over all the money they can squeeze out of the taxpayers for this 'war'.
Change everything? In a way. But I don't see how a "space force" could serve any purpose besides providing a deterrence. A war in Earth orbit could create a huge amount of debris and quite probably a runaway cascade of collisions. It's been termed the Kessler syndrome. Such an outcome would severely limit access to low earth orbit for decades, until the debris begins orbital decay. We wouldn't be able to finish the war and just rebuild -- a lot of satellite technology would be gone and we couldn't replace it. There's nothing good about this.

The biggest advantage that would come out of a space force would be all the R&D going towards new tech. Many of the tools we take for granted were originally developed for the military.

Perhaps. Some of the SDI technology did prove highly useful for astronomy. But this is going to be the smallest branch and they won't have much of an R&D budget. Technology like hypersonic vehicles will come from the Air Force and Navy first.
