As fun as that program is, it is most useful when you slave your ascom-capable telescope to it. That said, there are far better programs out there that have more astronomical catalogues. I have found myself disappointed many times when trying to find a certain object, only to discover that WWT doesn't have it, but was able to find it in other programs, such as The Sky or Starry Night Pro (which you have to buy).
Another free program is Stellarium (although it doesn't have telescope control capabilities). It is very good, but doesn't have all the pretty Sloan DSS images. But if you want to find objects in the sky quickly, it works like a charm. It also has more catalogues than WWT.
I use these programs to decide what object I will be observing or photographing on any particular night. Then when I am at the club observatory, I use the control paddle on my mount to go to whatever object I am interested in. My mount has about 60,000 objects saved in it. It's easier, and I don't have to hook the mount to the computer to do it. I've got enough wires already with all the cameras and such.

I'm familar with Stellarium but I don't care for it nor it's user interface.......
I'm sure you can pay for a better program for most any subject; however the thread is about WWT and it's free content.
Very interesting. I'm going to download as well. Thanks!
You're welcome.
