We were visiting Spokane for a short weekend and stayed in the Davenport Hotel at downtown. While it is a great place and lot of beautiful displays and fine dinings, I was amazed by how many people were there throughout the day. Maybe we missed it but it almost seem like a big event going on in the hotel, all the people dress like party and a lot of young boys and girls.

Were they locals or visitors from nearby areas? What were they all doing? I think we must missed something fun but would be great if someone from Spokane give me a hint. Thanks!

It is like that all the time -- more so during the holidays. I think a visit to the Davenport shows off Spokane's cultured, mannered, civilized side. It always makes me feel good to visit there - almost a step back in time. The people you saw are most likely a mix of locals and visitors who came in for a sports event, concert or show at the performing arts center. You would think in a down economy that people would back off on visiting or staying in a luxury hotel, but it doesn't seem to have affected the Davenport. I'm glad you had a nice visit!

The Davenport is also a popular place for weddings, company parties and other social events. I'm not sure if how young the people are you're referring to, perhaps a high school held a 'formal' dance there?

Thank you! There were kids of all ages, from 5/6 to ~10 to high school kids. Now thinking about it, it may be the Xmas Trees display that draws people here
