For a sport to be the best... it has to be a continuous sport. Baseball = 80% of the time, baseball players are standing waiting or sitting down drinking coffee or gatorade. Football = 50% of the time, football players are standing waiting or sitting down drinking coffee or gatorade.
1/2 of a football team never gets to touch the football in their whole career. Basketball = Highly ranked in my book, as long as everybody is about the same height. Anybody over 7'-0" is automatically a professional basketball player.
BTW, there's no better fans than soccer fans when it comes to having a wild atmosphere.
You'll never find a video like this of any other sport besides soccer. (Fans welcoming the team onto the field)
I put Rugby as #1 because from the little that I’ve seen, seems like the baddest sport there is. It’s just you, a ball, and a bunch of people trying to stop you.
All the players have to know how to attack, defend, etc, etc. (Same as soccer, except for the goalie)
And I know that football is similar, but Rugby players don’t stop to drink Gatorade every 3 minutes.
As a matter of fact, thinking about it, I put Rugby tied with soccer as #1.
There is a lot of stoppage in Rugby League. Less so in Union....
No, I meant more so in union. Getting up to play the ball is not really a stoppage. Setting (and resetting) a scrum or preparing for a lineout is more impeding to the flow of play.
I work with a guy who played rugby until this past year on a semi pro team, another friend just started playing this year and that dude is in great shape. They both played high school football and my coworker played in college and was drafted by the Bills in 1992, a late round pick btw. In their opinon nothing compares to American football for just an all around brutal physically demanding sport. Try running around after someone takes out your legs or buries their helmet in your hip.
All that being said look at the NBA, Bird, Larry Johnson, Penny Hardaway, Jamal Mashburn, Greg Oden, Brad Daughtery, Sam Bowie. The list goes on and on for a non contact sport. Most guys hit 32 or 33 and have major knee and back problems. I won't call it physical like Hockey or Football or even Rugby but thats one sport that has cut alot of careers short.

ah okay, guess so. I don't know either version very well
Also, the goal in union is often to kick the ball out of play instead of running and passing. Seriously, they pass the ball back just to kick it out and set up a lineout after everyone walks upfield. Very slow game.
