Jumping, shot put etc. are all in feet and inches. How stupid is that? The ONLY country on earth.
Fortunately they did not convert 400m to 1/4 miles.
Maybe it's about time the rest of the world got rid of meters. Maybe then they'd win more medals.
It's a lot more elegant to say a man high jumped seven feet, six inches than to say he jumped 2.286 meters. A foot is, well, a foot. A meter is a mutated yard.

Stupid is, after all, as stupid does.
I thought Americans love "democracy"? Why not follow the vast majority?
Truth about what? Using a system abandoned by UK, Canada, and Australia? What do you gain?
Exclusivity. And the rest of the world has to humor us.
But we could make a deal. If the UK, Australia, and Japan would start driving on the right side of the road, we'd ease up on our measurements. Except for Fahrenheit. Who wants to trade a rip-snorting 212 degree system for a puny little 100 degree system? Why, we'd be giving up 112 degrees of measurement! And for what? So that we could sweat when it's 35 degrees outside? Absurd!
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Yeledaf again.
Yeah, I got this too.

Exactly.
OP, here is the great ol' US of A, we use the standard measurement, not metric. So OF COURSE the local broadcasting would use the measurement we use here.
OP, you really don't seem to like much about the US. So why are you here? Seriously. Don't come here and then complain about every single thing. You seem like a very unhappy person.
