There tends to be a snooty elitist anti pro wrestling bias in this community. WHile i do not like the wrestling of today I am an old school historian enthusiast. I could teach a course at any College on Pro Wrestling. Anyway it should be acknowledged here that Paul Ornforff passe away at 71 due to Cancer related issues. He was one of the top dogs who was in the first Wrestlemania. He also worked many huge money ,making matches against Hulk Hogan. Probably the best in Hogan's career. He worked the territory circuit for GA AND mID soUTH. oRNDORFF also had a stint with the New Orleans Saints. SHow some respect.

Right There with ya. I do not like the current product but I did enjoy the old school shows.

I saw him in person once against Hulk on a road tour. What turned me off to the WWF (now the WWE) was that they, more than anyone, gave prelims and mid card matches the duration, almost, and then a cheap 5 minute DQ match between Hogan and Orndorff.

Afterwards, the rasslers were leaving and a few people were talking to some of them. The heels, maintaining KayFabe would not talk to anyone, neither would Hogan, who in his mind was already bigger than the business.
Orndorff however, did his job and did it well. And unlike Hogan, he was legit tough....They do not have workers like him anymore. And likely never will.
Orndorff successfully beat cancer in 2011. Sadly, he could not beat CTE and the dementia from it. It was likely decades of head injuries in the ring and in the business contributed to CTE

Very Sad, he will be missed. I will say that he had a lot of respect from fans and workers alike.

Wow…R.I.P. This is the first I’m hearing of this. He was a legitimate guy that certainly was no punk.

Everyone says they don't like the wrestling of today (and I agree) but we have to recognize the fact the McMahon family has not taken care of their people and ignored everyone who got hurt and developed pain killer addictions is the reason the WWE sucks nowadays. The AEW seems much better in this regard and may be worth supporting if pro wrestling wants a viable future.

Tight end with University of Tampa and drafted to the New Orleans Saints in 1973. Left the team at training camp for “personal reasons” before switching to professional wrestling.
