I'm surprised more posters didn't mention Bill Walton. I think Bill has smoked a little too much wacky tobaccy, and consumed too many psychedelics. I can listen to him for maybe 5 minutes, then I have to turn the sound off, or switch channels. He is not funny, just goofy.
I feel the exact way about Walton. I love listening to him. Actually, Walton will be like the only time I actually turn on ESPN.
Tony Romo. Rarely do former players make good announcers. Tim McCarver, Dan Dierdorf, even Arnold Palmer. They do not fare very well. Former stars of the games.
Romo does not do play by play but tries to tell us what plays they should be or will be running. We prefer for the action on the field to tell us what happened.
He insults the viewers with comments like:
"At some point they will have to go for it on 4th down"
(Duh, they are losing by 7 and the clock is under 3 minutes and they have 1 timeout)
Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy are the worst in basketball. They’ll spend ten minute increments during a close game complaining about todays NBA players while the play-by-play guy has to fight to get in a word edgewise.
Well, speak of old el diablo himself, I turned on the opening game of the American Alliance football and Gary Danielson is the announcer. So, I am watching the game with the sound off.
