I will be driving from Las Vegas to Zion this summer, and would like to spend the night in St.George, before heading out to Zion. Is there any place to stay and things to do in St George?

Of course there are places to stay and things to do.

The greater St. George area has a population of over 100,000 so it's not some dinky little place. Can you be more specific? "Things to do" encompasses a lot.

If you're into gaming/gambling/shows and inexpensive hotels, you might want to spend the night in Mesquite which is about 38-miles before you get to St. George or about 90 miles out of Vegas.

No matter, try to do the drive from Mesquite to St. George during daylight hours. It is a spectacular drive as far as scenery goes. Not to mention it's gets pretty irritating passing the semis on the curvy interstate if it's dark out.

St. George is great! Hit up some golf down there along the redrock! Snow Canyon is unique and quite inexpensive (State Park if I recall). By the way, you will really enjoy Zion National Park. Be sure to hike up to Angel's Landing! Once in a lifetime view for many.

If you like hiking. Snow Canyon is great. Also the Red Cliffs hike which it just out of St. George (about 12 miles) north off I-15.

Drive to Ivins and see the Tuachan Theater....beautiful views out there.

St. George is a beautiful place, much to do and see!
