I need to move. Plain and simple. My friend and I are looking into apartments but everything we look at seem to be a little too expensive for our college student bank accounts. So, with that being said, we were wanting to look into apartments above businesses. Preferably in the south county or west county area (i.e. Ballwin, Ellisville, Manchester, Ladue, Wildwood, Kirkwood, Crestwood, Sappington, Webster Groves, etc.) Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

What are you asking exactly? If anyone knows of any apartments above businesses in those areas? Doubtful since most businesses in those areas are in strip malls or 1 story standalone buildings.

I lived in a crappy apartment complex in south county that was cheap but it sucked. It was like $650 for a three bedroom a couple of years ago.

what's your budget?

Regardless, if you two don't mind a single bedroom apartment, this could be affordable.

Sublease and look on Craigslist. Cheapest route for decent location.

I agree with Carrie...If you're looking for a cheap place, hop on craigslist, put in a price min/max, and start making phone calls. Even though there are a lot of renters out there in this economy, there seems to be even more housing stock than renters, so finding a person who might be a little negotiable on the rent probably isn't impossible.

If you're willing to share a 1 bedroom -- which has always been popular in more expensive cities (hell I had friends in Brooklyn share a studio) -- you should have plenty of options under $500, though maybe not in your target areas.

If you share your budget, we could probably make better suggestions!
