2 Federal marshals wounded in St. Louis gunfight
Quote:
Two deputy U.S. marshals and a police officer were wounded during a gunfight at a St. Louis home Tuesday, the latest in a series of shootings of federal agents who are facing what authorities say are increasing risks on the job.

One marshal was in critical condition and a second was in fair condition, according to Laura Keller, a spokeswoman for St. Louis University Hospital, where both were treated.

A St. Louis police officer was wounded in the shootings, which occurred as the three officers were serving an arrrest warrant, said Jeff Carter, spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service.
Not a good news day for where I live (though that's just dead fish. Millions of them, but still just fish) or where I grew up.

I hope the agent in critical condition recovers!

Oh man, that sucks. Not so much about the suspect. Got what was coming to him for firing on the marshals in the first place.

Default Too close to home...

This is happening more frequently in Dutchtown, and this was just a bit too close to home. It happened within less than 15 minutes from the time I pulled out to go to work. If I had looked in that direction of Osage, for just a moment longer, I might have seen the police cars parked on the street, as they prepared to go in. Crazy!!

I've only been in this neighborhood two years, but it has changed negatively in that short time. Only a few months ago I learned from the authorities of a gang war that was taking place in our neighborhood. We heard gunfire, weekly, and sometimes, every night. Nice, right?
I've tried to talk up this neighborhood from time to time, in hopes of gentrifying it, but with the continual downturn in the housing market, it's doubtful that that will happen quick enough to meet my needs.

I really hate hearing that, B33nThere. I've heard gunfire in the streets (outside my work, not my home) once, and I didn't like it at all. Can't imagine if it was a nightly thing. I wonder what can be done to stop it?

Gotta love quotes from neighbors/relatives in the Post-Dispatch talking about how people there dont like the police, how they shouldn't have shot the suspect, etc.

My prayers go out to all those involved.

I can remember gunshots from my college days. When at my wife's school in kansas city, we litterally heard what sounded like a battle going on several blocks away, pistol fire, machinegun fire, several rifles, and at least one shotgun...It lasted about 6-10 minutes before we started hearing sirens...I also had the pleasure of staring down the barrel of a service pistol when an officer stopped at the wrong house during a heated search for a suspect.
