Whether the factories and warehouses are defunct or still operating, what are some of the places--whether intersections or entire neighborhoods--where I can get some pictures of the industrial side of STL?

I'm especially interested in smokestack photography. Sauget, of course, is already on my list.

So, to what specific blocks and neighborhoods should I go?

Thanks!

The North STL Riverfront has a ton of industry, as does the Carondolet neighborhood on the South side.

Agreed. It's been a great resource. +rep. I already knew of it, however.

The areas mentioned are good ones. In general, the major industrial areas/neighborhoods of the city are pretty easy to locate. The ribbon of land between the river and 70 on the northside is industrial, as is the sliver between 55 and the river on the south side. The only other sizeable area that I would categorize as industrial is a narrow band that runs along the rail line between I-44 and 40 (or I-64 as non-locals would call it). There are some steel fabrication facilities along this route just south of Forest Park, but nothing really huge. Manchester runs alongside the rail line most of the way.

Lemp Brewery on east Cherokee has a smoke stack. As does the Falstaff Brewery. Kosciusko would be another place wit lots of industry. I personally like the industrial on Park West of Grand in Botanical Heights - Smells like moth balls There is also a smoke stack at the power house at Union Station and on the West side of the Old City Hospital/Georgian.
