True, but she lives in the Ballwin area, so may as well eat there. That'll give us some time for the food to settle before looking like drunk penguins on ice.

Hey guys I ended up canceling the plans to the Tavern because they had no open tables available for the times we wanted. Also, I guess we should probably just eat near the skating rink in Forest Park. With that said, anyone have any other ideas for the Forest Park area?? How about a restaurant in the Hill area? Anthonino's Taverna?

You could also eat somewhere in Clayton and go skating at the Clayton rink in Shaw Park afterwards. I know the rink does not stay open too late on Saturdays (their website says 8:30 pm) so that would mean an earlier dinner. You could also stroll around Shaw Park a bit afterwards. For restaurants there are a bunch in Clayton, from Dominic's to Niche to Oceano Bistro or bunches of others. If you are looking for unique restaurants with "above average prices" Clayton is a good place to look!

If you are willing to eat in Ballwin and then drive to Forest Park, then that opens up the suggestions, especially considering your ice skating idea.

As mentioned, you could skate at Shaw Park in Clayton, and do dinner before or after skating. Check times and availability. Lots of choices for dining in Clayton within walking distance of the rink, or miniscule driving distance if bad weather. Well lit, nice area. Pastaria sounds like a possibility for you.

You could also choose Forest Park for skating and dine near there in Central West End or elsewhere within close distance.

What I would do is combine the two geographies. I wouldn't eat in Ballwin and then drive to Forest Park or vice versa. Pick a geography and combine a couple of activities in and or near that geography.

There are tons of great restaraunt a bear forest park. Clayton, The CWE and the Hill are all right there. I suggest Sanctuaria on Manchester in the Grove/FPSE. Best drinks in town and small tapas plates you can share with your date.
