Hey Guys,

I'm looking to relocate from South Florida to St. Louis and would like to know if living downtown is a good option. Ideally I would like to find a place to lease that overlooks the water that offers the ability to walk to restaurants, train, entertainment, shops, etc.

I've seen some really cool lofts and condo options online but photos can be very misleading.

Please HELP.

Did I mention also SAFE area!!!!

RDH

Overlooking the water? Like the Mississipi River? Just so you know...it's not exactly scenic.

Washington Ave has the most lively atmosphere downtown.

Mansion House and Gentry's Landing have views of the river and the fabulous East Side (and the Arch, to be fair), but aren't lofts.

Most of the lofts are in buildings on Washington Avenue and Post Office Square along Olive/Locust.

Downtown is generally pretty safe, but be aware that it is city living so don't expect Mayberry.

Here is a pretty comprehensive list of options downtown. Housing

For social reasons I'd find a place with a rooftop pool. It's a great setting to meet your neighbors and quickly make friends.

I have dozens of friends who live downtown. It's a great place to live.

I would choose somewhere along Washington Ave or the Old Post Office district. I have lived down here for 5 years and have been satisfied. It very walkable to sporting events, concerts, mass transit, and some of the best restaraunts and bars in the region. Most of the building are loft style apartments in old warehouses. Very trendy and cool.

If you look on Wash Ave try Ely Walker, Ventana, Bogen, Fashion Square, Rudman, Lucas Lofts, Paul Brown, Park Pacific, the Laural, and the Merchandise Mart for starters.

Let me know if you have questions or dm me.
