I live in a rural area and my grandpa got flipped off recently. It's not just city people. My grandma got flipped off a few years ago.

I have to disagree. When I was driving in St. Louis, drivers seemed a bit slow by LA standards, but hardly rude. In any case, I'll take slightly slow over the insanely over-aggressive driving so common in LA.

au contraire. I think the drivers here are just as aggressive as LA but in different ways. I think per capita St. Louis may be more aggressive than LA. (Maybe the correct term should be passive/aggressive.)

Perhaps since one person's experiences and style of driving helps 'taint' their perceptions of other peoples' driving abilities and/or aggressiveness, maybe that creates different reactions, awareness, and/or sensitivity of what they see?

Me, as a defensive aggressive driver, I don't find much amiss w/ the StL drivers - matter of fact, seems that my style & desires match those there, and all is good [for the most part]. Yet, from what I've seen those that have tags from IL or OH are by far worst, in regards to my desired style. Boston, San Fran, Chicago I've not had any issues... but not much experience in LA besides the 20 mile long parking lot called I-5.

It is the 405 that is a parking lot, the I-5 sort of moves.

I've pretty much driven in at least 20 states for extended periods of time (and probably about 10 more if you count just passing through). PA, WV and Hawaii have the best drivers. Like I said, the drivers here are among the worse, but for what its worth, you can't hold a candle to those idiots in Massachussetts.

I hate to tell you this is that I have seen more tailgaters here than any place I've ever driven (those are the aggressive drivers). The passive/aggressive driver is the knuckle head that refused to yeild to faster traffic as traffic starts to back up behind him (or her).

How shallow and meaningless of a life one must live to focus on these inane details.....

Again, there are good and drivers everywhere. St. Louis. Boston. Smog Angeles. San Fransicko. Topeka. Baghdad. Brisbane. Everywhere!

Well, the gentleman and his wife have frequented a lot of BBQ restaurants, and that works for me! L.A.'s 405 Freeway can be one heckuvan experience with the volumes of traffic on it. Ditto for the 91 Freeway and I-5 through Burbank and from south of downtown L.A. to the Orange County line where it's a piddling three lanes in each direction for the most part. So even with the New I-64 construction in full swing, St. Louis-area drivers can consider themselves pretty fortunate!

At least we can all agree on one thing--Boston drivers are RUDE!!!!!! http://bestsmileys.com/angry1/8.gif (broken link) http://bestsmileys.com/angry1/25.gif (broken link) Well, a whole lot of them are at any rate....

You really need to think before making presumptuous statements. I was in the USAF for 12 years and visited (and driven in) 42 of the lower 48 - that's 87.5 percent of the country. I do believe that validates my assessment of state-to-state comparison.

St. Louis is no better or no worse than anywhere - unless, of course, you're a transplant that focuses on the negative and refutes the positive.

When are you moving to Pittsburgh? We're going to have a party.

I think I also make a fair assessment of drivers.

For what its worth, your opinion is no better than mine and mine is no better than yours.

The bias is that I'm not crazy about being here and you are one of the local cheerleaders. 'nuff said.
