That's good news. I hear that a lot from out-of-town seniors executives/customers visiting my employer in Chesterfield. And although I love Chicago, I'm really surprised that it's ranked that close to St. Louis when you consider the ridiculous socialist taxes that are levied in Cook County.

Then add in that for a lot of office work, engineering, design work, graphic designers and web developers, the entire business model is changing. My gu

More people can, and do work out of their homes. There will be less need for large office space.

Even where I am now there are only 3 people in the office that essentially serves as a control hub (two years ago there were 30 people here.)

All our writers, designers and developers work from their homes in different parts of the country. Cytrix and Skype save a lot of travel time.

Our office is in an "incubator' development with shared office tools (receptionist, conference rooms, copiers, servers. etc) My guess is that many corporations will develop on this plan. This may be good for St. Louis since it is so cheap to live there.

that's an interesting note. I personally am incapable of working from home. Won't do it,can't do it, don't prefer to do it. I have to be out and away or else I'm easily distracted. I prefer to keep home life separate from work.

What would be nice though if office space were leased 50-100 sq ft at a time. Just enough for a small office. It would be a welcomed alternative to commutes to suburban office parks in creve couer or having to work out of your home.

It'd be pretty cool to see an office tower full of people from thousands of different companies and industries occupying single units of office space. All within the convenience of a 5 minute walk.
Married couples in entirely different industries could work in the same building, maybe even afford to get rid of a car instead of owning two.

Live downtown but job is in west county? No problem, your company can purchase office space for you at Ballpark Village.

It is very difficult working at home. too many distractions.

My current situation puts me in a very creative environment. With great views of the Santa Ana Mountains outside the window.

I believe that there is an incubator park in Westport. Pretty efficient way to do business. Saint Louis would reallly bebefit from these typs of workspaces. Some entrepreneurial person or group could rehab an unused building and do quite well with the right plan.

The buildings we are in now are 80 percent occupied. Not bad for a market where comercial real estate is crashing
