I've been taking this for the past couple of months. Definitely works but during the beginning stage of taking this, I've checked some sites to see the optimal dosage. Most say 500, with a side note of it potentially becoming toxic if consumed more. Meanwhile one or two sources say that it can be taken up to 6,000mg a day. Which I find to be excessive.. I fill my own "00" capsules with the root powder. Guessing, my dosage is around 1300 for two caps. It only lasts a couple of hours. However I'd like to take a tad more for the end of the day. What's your dosage/schedule on taking it? I have not experienced any side effects.
I think most people use an extract instead of the raw root. I use between 600mg to 1 gram of a 5% extract per day. If you're using plain powdered root you would obviously need much more than that. 6 grams doesn't seem unreasonable for plain root.
Ashwagandha has a lot of uses. But so far, there isn't enough information to judge whether it is effective for any of them.
Ashwagandha is used for arthritis, anxiety, bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), balance, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trouble sleeping (insomnia), tumors, tuberculosis, asthma, a skin condition marked by white patchiness (leukoderma), bronchitis, backache, fibromyalgia, menstrual problems, hiccups, Parkinson's disease, under-active thyroid (hypothyroidism), and chronic liver disease. It is also used to reduce side effects of medications used to treat cancer and schizophrenia. Ashwagandha is used to reduce levels of fat and sugar in the blood.
Ashwagandha is also used as an "adaptogen" to help the body cope with daily stress, and as a general tonic.
The world is full of skeptics, Jambo, and those skeptics take their pharma drugs with no skeptism, that's where I worry.
Its one thing to take a drug thats been rigorously tested by the FDA and prescribed by doctors, its another thing to take drugs that have not been tested and like this one claim to be a cure all for any ailment you happen to have, where does this ashwaganda come from? what oversight has been made to assure the product isnt just the result of some chinese guy stuffing bottles with fiber to sell to a gullible American market.

And no side effects to these great FDA regulated drugs? Don't think so.
I've been taking nutritional supplements for well over 25 yrs and never down with a side effect, but the drugs, oh yes.
The chinese have used alternatives for 100's years for their healing.
I wonder why so many naysayers on nutritional supps come out so vocal on what other people do.
OP is not around but I can say I've taken many adrenal supports in the last 20 yrs and I "think" tried this one and don't recall my benefits. I may try again some day, but for now my daughter has brought a new product to my life and I'm going to give it a good trial, like 3 months or so. Depending, I may post on it.
