Sleep with cats wrapped around your head. Works every night.

Or hot milk. Or cocoa, which is 100% better. Or Valerian. OR -- cocoa, followed by cats wrapped around your head.

I have some pretty severe sleep issues. I'm on prescription medication, but because I've been on one of these drugs for so long I don't think it is helping me at all with my sleep. I now combo meds as I try to reduce the original medication, Trazadone. This is not a good habit so lately I've tried reducing in increments the Trazadone dosage by supplementing it with Melatonin.

Melatonin did seem to fill the gap but I was feeling sort of irritable and hung over the next morning. I googled the side effects and both these symptoms were prominent especially in higher dosages, anywhere from 1-3 mg. It all depending on the person. It was said even at lower doses that Melatonin could produce that hang over sensation but for some, but in time, that side effect may wear off? When I purchased my Melatonin I didn't know this and thought I was getting a great deal buy getting the super strength 5 mg. tablets. I may try and cut them and see if that eases some of the side effects.

In the mean time though I substituted the Melatonin with Valerian. I'm finding that I'm having great results in using Valerian to cut back gradually on the Trazadone.

For me magnesium also was helpful, probably due to its deficiency.
