Hi. We used to live in Liverpool,NY and are considering moving back to the area.
How is the local economy doing?
Any input on jobs available for class A cdl drivers?
Thanks
Anybody know why system freight in Solvay is offering a $4000.00 driver sign on bonus?
Seems like if it was a good job the local residents would be taking the jobs.
I have a few friends who drive truck. They'll work for a lesser company and build experience for the sign-on bonus. CDL drivers are in high demand and there are a LOT of freight companies here. I wouldn't think it's a scam or anything... it doesn't seem too crazy of a sign-on bonus. $2500 is the most common, for around here. We hear it on tv and radio all the time.
I do not know that place at all but deal with alot of others.
Making Syracuse into a hub has been a dream of several companies. They come in, hire a crap load of drivers, tons of sign on bonuses and do a big stroke of business and are either gone or made "right sized" in short order. Mclane was the biggest example, current is BBX with half a dozen others off the top of my head.
If I was looking for work I'd drive for them and cash the checks but wouldn't make any long term decisions.
System Freight may not be this way but if I was a betting man.....................

Boston Buffalo that you quote here has been in business in Syracuse for decades. Holy smokes Sean, I understand why you would hate NYS, the taxation policies suck. But I don't get why you exert so much effort trying to convince everyone else that it sucks to live here.
BBX is a transportation/logistics company based in the Northeastern US. The company offers refrigerated and dry transport throughout the United States and Canada, specializing in the transportation and distribution of seafood. Boston Buffalo Express became BBX in 2004, when current president Robert E. Lewis acquired the company. “The old name was geographically limiting,” noted Mr. Lewis, “we offer so much more outside of those two cities.” Therefore, with the foundation of great employees and over 40 years in the industry, Boston Buffalo became BBX. BBX prides itself on having an incredibly dedicated, loyal, and experienced staff of employees. It is, and has always been, one of the main reasons for the success of BBX over the decades. The company is now increasing its scope from transporting refrigerated seafood along the Boston-Buffalo route, to a more expanded enterprise, to include all refrigerated products with routes across the US. Armed with a new name and attitude, BBX has seen tremendous growth in the past years. BBX is based out of Lockport, NY with eight terminals including: Albany, NY; Bedford, IN; Boston, MA; Buffalo, NY; Cleveland, OH; Erie, PA; St. Catharines, ON Canada; and Syracuse, NY. As a result, BBX is now more capable of servicing their customers than ever before.
