The new campus will be away from Albany's nanotech school...So where will this campus be? Hopefully in Syracuse since we're the only major city in upstate NY that does not have a true 4 year SUNY school. I know we have Upstate Medical and ESF but they're extremely small and are specialty schools. Buffalo has UB at 30 thousand students and Buffalo State college at 11 thousand. In addition, Rochester has Brockport, Binghampton has BU, Albany has SUNY Albany.
They're not talking about building a new CNSE campus away from Albany. They're talking about separating that campus administratively from UAlbany (they already act like this)... and set up research sites and field stations elsewhere.
Brockport is not in Rochester, it's almost as far from Rochester as three different SUNY campuses are from Syracuse: Cortland, Oswego and Morrisville.
