Cheeseburger Cheeseburger is Cheeburger Cheeburger (#16 not is SYR)...and highly recommended. The only burger chain I like more is Steak 'n Shake (none of those around here that I know of).

You liked steak n shake? I wasn't a fan. I think we are spoiled in this part of the country with burger joints. I have yet to find many outside the NY and MA areas that are good. Somebody recommended "5 guys" to me while I was in DC. It was basically a glorified mcdonalds.

I'm constantly seeing ads for Sonic on tv and have yet to go to one. Same thing with Dairy Queen. Do we have either of those in Syracuse?

I agree with Erie Blvd being a bad location and getting worse. If Old Coutry Buffet had been elsewhere I'm sure they would have made it.

Default Dairy Queen left......

Liverpool about 5 or so years ago and is now a bank. I think there was one on Buckley Road in North Syracuse too, but has been gone for a while too.

While I wish we had a Sonic in the area, we don't. I think the closest thing we have to one is the drive-in A&W in Cortland. It's probably one of the few old school style A&W's around. There used to be another one of those in North Syracuse, where Taco Bell is now, across from the Marketplace Plaza.

As for Erie Boulevard East, while it has declined a bit, part of that is due to the emergence of the strip on Route 31 in Clay and the revival of the Town Centre in nearby Fayetteville too.

With that said, it still is a strip with quite a few things there and once the Shoppingtown Mall gets revamped, it should be back.

That was a shame they shut the A&W down in Cicero. Growing up my father would take me there every Saturday after lawn work.

The restaurant scene here is pretty weak. I like dono bbq (although always a long wait), Angottis for pizza and salad, Webers for german/american, and China Cafe is ok (as is China Road). The fancy restaurants are a bit pretentious, IMO. Chains are always predictably mediocre - I guess that's what people like about them, the sameness. We could really use a good fast food place like they have in California (in and out burger, or Tommy's). The fast food here is the worst. It's a pretty sad restaurant scene, unless you like very boring corporate food.

I still miss A&W on Route 11 in Cicero!

They built an A&W up on Route 31 in Clay a few years ago, but the menu is scaled down somewhat... as it's a A&W/KFC combo. Didn't even sell curly fries! Only went once and never went back. Besides Route 31 is a little too far just to get fast food.

I like the old school A&Ws--you cant beat a drive in. I still have like 4 mugs for the one in Cicero, my father used to buy them for me. When I was a kid it used to fascinate me that you had to order from a phone on the inside

I think Sonic is only in the South maybe some in Virginia, the drinks are great but the food not so much.
