I was wondering, what community would most people in the Syracuse area would be considered the most affluent? I would suggest places like Skaneateles, Fayetteville/Manlius, Jamesville/DeWitt, Onondaga Hill and Radisson in the Greater Baldwinsville area. Is there one that stands out in your mind? Are they all similar do you think or does it vary? Are there any that I am missing?

Skaneateles, definitely, and Fayetteville/Manlius are the two areas that most stand out in my mind.

This is how I see them.

-Parts of DeWitt are upscale due to the close proximity to Syracuse University and the major hospitals.

-Skaneateles is upscale due to the pristine clear waters of Skaneateles Lake and the quaint village.

-Fayetteville/Manlius are upscale due to the excellent school district and the beautiful setting in the rolling hills.

-Onondaga Hill is upscale due to gorgeous views in the hills and the Westhill school district.

-Radisson is upscale mostly due to the homeowners association, the walking trails etc., and proximity to Anheuser-Busch.

The Fayetteville/Manlius area probably has the most upscale vibe of all those places. Skaneateles is way too rural. Onondaga Hill isn't that built up yet. Radisson is only a single planned community of about 8,000 residents, but over half the homes were built before 1990 and most of those aren't really upscale. DeWitt's upscale area is very small and the upscale-ness does not extend into the nearby commercial areas.

Jamesville/Dewitt and Pompey have my vote. Nice homes and close to Cuse. JD school district ranks very high.

I'm going to say Skaneateles (chased by new money) and Cazenovia for old money. Fayetteville and Manlius for new money.

There's alot of money in FM. The cars in the student parking lot at FM High are newer and more expensive than the cars in the teachers lot. And I doubt that's changed in the 3 years since I've graduated.
