Onondaga County (Syracuse's county) has slightly more Democrat registered voters than Republican. Pretty evenly split between Democrat, Republican and no party. If it were a state, we'd be a swing state.
Historically, Onondaga County used to be a Republican county, in the last ten years it has turned more Democrat.
According to New Channel 9 in Syracuse, there are about 101,000 registered Democrats and 93,000 registered Republicans in Onondaga County.
Overall, (if I remember correctly) Onondaga County has roughly 290,000 registered voters.
