to me apple hit it out of the ball park on this product ..i have to have when you can a person whos is two years old to a 98 year old women who has never handle a computer before and with basic showing of a few mins of hand on training and they are working the device without a lot of problems then you have a great product..

the thing was Steve Jobs have allways said this about the idea behind the idea was talking to other people about the basic computer use by the people in the home or other areas.. for most people do not really use a computer outside the area of websurfing or basic emails and some form of a personal enjoyment than way have all this socalled computer that does all that anyway ..

the idea is to get the person a basic computer design that is used for personal use of surfing the web and emails and shopping and reading e-books or magazine and comics on line and that it and the website on getting on board with a lot of website that are basically design for a ipad to use..

plus here is my basic applications on it for my personal use in my life

dvd library
book library
kitchen pantry
diff type of chess games
hoyle casino game
hoyle board and puzzle game.
trivial pursit game
spades card game
this on my personal ipad

on my work ipad that i have at the office i have a bunch of the itunes store applications for work and it stays in the office for use everyday when iam at work ..

to me it it ok but i still will allways use my ipad for i love it for basic simple fact it is easly to use it ..to me that it is the main reason why i got it for the simple fact of beening a very simple device to use plus the fact i love some of the apple applications i have ..

also i want to point this out ..the one thing apple has going for it right now it the ipad is simple system to use as a older person when i first got around computers years ago dos was the system you had to learn then windows came out with it diff o.s. system over the years ..

where iam at i seen a lot of the older people with them and the one thing that apple did right was the o.s. system on the unit keep it simple and people of all ages will buy it and use..for i hated some of the problems with the o.s. system i used form the late 1980s time frame to now ..

i mean most kids now days are so far advance of us as kids when it came to useing computer skills ..i remember the first computer i saw in the military back in the 70s and it was huge ..but apple did it right and they are flying off the shelfs like hotcakes at the local greasy spoon ..so it a wait and see if others can match apple now..

If that's true, your linguistic accomplishments are truly amazing --- and one can readily overlook the grammatical and spelling errors in one of your several languages. (Sadly, very few Americans even speak English well, much less other languages).

One the other hand, if "I was born here" refers to the U.S., then you should probably work harder on mastering your basic English grammar and spelling skills, than on acquiring more languages.

The IPad is truly the poo. But one serious drawback is no Flash/Web capability. If somebody wants to use the Web, who is Jobs to say they can't lol. All in all, it seems a stellar hit.

x 2 on the flash. Thats the biggest problem with implementing them in education. Most educational web content is in flash. Its just relatively cheap and simple to develop the demo type illistrations in flash. We are implementing them in our school a bit too as well, but dont see a way to overcome this, until everyone is on board and goes to html5, or apple gives in on flash. (unlikely).

Not just Blackberry, but most other PC/smartphone makers. Acer is releasing a tablet soon. No doubt Dell, HP and Lenovo will also.

I think Apple hold a first move advantage though. They must have factored into consideration that all of the other personal computer makers will make their own tablet. I doubt Jobs is that dumb not to.

I have this to say about the iPad. My Aunt just purchased the lowest base version ($599) plus a hard-case for it ($50), an accidental plan for two years ($250), and a screen sheet sleeve ($30!). For the almost $800 after taxes that she spent on the thing, she had to spend another $200 for a program called "Prologue2Go." She purchased an iPad for her disable son to use as a communication device (he isn't very good at speaking, but his comprehension is fantastic).

Comparable specialized devices cost $3000+. She made a good purchase in that regard. Being the resident techy, I had the honor of setting up the demonized device, and I quickly discovered why it is demonized. It is atrociously simplistic. What's the quote? "We should make everything simple without being simplistic."

It had a responsive touch-screen, but the lack of any viable external ports was astounding. I had a headphone jack and the proprietary (that's Apple) USB jack on the bottom. Apple Jacks are worthless when they only work with Apple products--which is of course their entire purpose.

To be fair, the iPad works great for its intended use in this case, but to use it seriously as a replacement for a Laptop, Netbook, or even Tablet PC or Slate, is just not feasible. It doesn't have the horsepower of capability to replace those devices. I'm with Narfcake--all fashion, no Flash. Pun Intended.

The Sprint store by me apparently just received a shipment of Galaxy S's. The store manager was up at my shop the other day talking them up. I'd be excited to see what IBM Lenovo puts out. I'm impressed with their Lenovo designs. They are much more sophisticated in design and quality (Thanks Intel) than a lot of these Acer-Gateway and HP-Compaq machines. Really do get what you pay for.

While I don't need an IPad nor any kind of slate-type computer for that matter, I certainly wouldn't complain if my wife gave me one for Christmas! Whenever I play around with a smartphone, surfing the web and all, say, while waiting around for my wife when shopping, I admit to wishing it had a bigger screen. An IPad certainly would come in handy for reading online magazines.

Here's a couple of intresting articles about the IPad.

In relation to the USB port offered on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod: That's where third party "gadget" manufacturers come into play. For example, look at the huge amount of products, other than Apple, you can use with the products above. For example, there are apps (other than Apple's) that allow the iPad and iPod to be used for texting or as a telephone via WIFI. Then if your iPad or iPod has a camera, Apple has an app that allows for teleconferencing with these two devices. There are apps for printing via WIFI, and so forth.
