Southside -- generally speaking, south of Tennessee Street within the city limits, with some exceptions.

Getting back specifically to Woodland Drives -- I didn't realize the neighborhood had that name until I did an internet search (I always called it the Capital City CC or Myers Park area). It is one of the older neighborhoods in town due to its proximity to downtown - also a very hilly area, at least by FL standards. The drawbacks would be:1) also very close to high-crime areas, and 2) I imagine the schools zoned for that neighborhood aren't that great. Even if you don't have children, it will affect resale value.

I had some friends from that neighborhood when I grew up in TLH back in the 1970's/1980's, and it is one of those places where families live for decades without moving -- which likely means a lot of older people now since younger families tend to move to the north side of town these days. Just a guess - I have no evidence to back this up.

If I were looking for an older, established, in-town neighborhood, I would prefer the "midtown" area, but that's just me.

Thanks JAS! It is a shame that there are some really pretty houses as well as beautiful wooded lots that may go unsold because of the crime risk. I think the taxes are a little high in that area as well. So Midtown, I think I found it on the map, is north of Tennessee St in the NE. I had heard the northeast is the best area to live in but the lots seem to be quite a bit more money. Tallahassee looks to be a very pretty city and we have always loved following FSU football especially when Bobby was there plus it isn't too far from the ocean.

Any other info would be appreciated for all of us that are thinking of moving to Tallahassee.

You write very well but just wanted to point out that wanna isn't a word. It's want to. I wasn't sure if it was just forum talk. Good luck to you! Tallahassee is a very pretty city. My son lives up there and we love to visit whenever we have a chance.
